teaches History of Art Criticism at the University of Bergamo. Her fields of interest include Cinquecento art literature (P. Giovio, Scritti d'arte: lessico ed ecfrasi, edited by S. Maffei, Pisa 1999) and the documentary popularity of the sculpture of Laocoon (S. Settis, Laooconte. Fama e stile. Con un apparato documentario a c. di S. Maffei su «La fama di Laooconte nei testi del Cinquecento», Roma 1999).
